Grading

After salting, all skins are carefully classed and graded by trained professionals, using templates and measures where appropriate, according to the quality of wool and pelt, and our buyer's requirements. Skins are graded according to criteria generally recognised by the international skin and hide community.

Wool is graded on density, and is also assessed (especially for car seat covers and underlays) on color, and contamination from dust, burrs, and seeds.
Pelt is assessed for cuts, knife marks, rib, seed penetration, shape, and size.

Great emphasis is placed on delivery consistent quality product so that regardless of whether we are shipping one of our standard specifications, or a custom requirement, our buyers can be sure to receive the same quality, as described, each and every time.
