Lamb Skin

Meatworks Skins are head trimmed, salted, classed, pressed and packed on wooden pallets. Skins are offerred according to the following categories subject to seasonal variations and availability. The specifications shown below are approximate, and can be varied according to customer requirements.

Spring Lambs / New Season / Sucker
Young lambs which are yet to be shorn. Availability commences in Australia in about July / August for 6 to  7 months of each year. Peak season is around October, with production declining in December, and only small quantities available in January. New Season Lambskins are considered the highest quality skins from Australia as there is no seed damage or weathering of the wool tip.

Early season skins are of wool length 1.5 to 2.0 inches. Late in the season (September through to November) it is common to find wool length of 2.0 to 3.0 inches. Skins from the majority of Spring Lambs are a good source of high quality double face for garments, and collar / cuff trims

Uses include premium products such as fashion rugs, doubleface garments, trims, and dusters.
